30s MAIN EVENTS 2008 - PROVISIONAL LIST

Main Events are open to all the 30s groups in Britain and Ireland. Some of the 30s events also invite the 20somethings to come along, though the 20somethings have their own programme of Main Events as well. Where there are 40somethings groups they sometimes invite the 30s to their Main Events.

28 DECEMBER 2007 - 1 JANUARY 2008 - Taize Gathering, Geneva. Taize does not accept groups of over-30s, but all ages are welcome to its annual city meeting at New Year. This year it's in Geneva where Br Roger, the founder who was murdered two years ago, first had the idea to set up the community. Caroline from the group, who now lives in Geneva, is willing to help by recommending places to stay and by helping to get people together during the meeting. CONTACT HER NOW ON carolinemuthuri@hotmail.com

8 - 11 FEBRUARY - BRUSSELS: Jenny from Dublin is inviting people to come to Brussels for the weekend. She is suggesting that people stay at the Euroflat (see www.hotels.com) Rooms are 53 euros per night for two people. Ryanair flies there quite cheaply. CONTACT HER NOW ON jennycrossley@gmail.com

HOLY WEEK (20-23 MARCH) : We've not been able to find a Centre where we can prepare for Easter ourselves, but we might advertise some other Centres - if you know of anywhere let us know. There will still be the possibility of doing Holy Week at Smithstone House, Kilwinning (Hugh's community near Glasgow) but they only have 14 beds.

2 - 5 MAY - IONA : We still need a contact person to co-ordinate this.

JUNE :

- Weekend in Bury St Edmunds, Whitby, Devon or Cornwall. Organised by Chris Driscoll on the same lines as his weekends in Bath and
Oxford etc.
- Holiday with a difference at Llandudno, the best seaside resort in North Wales, with good train connections on the Holyhead line. We still
need a contact for this.

OVER THE SUMMER the following are proposed:

- Liverpool, City of Culture, including 'It's a Knockout' with teams from the various groups. Organiser, Maria.
- Kilwinning Festival, Smithstone House, near Glasgow. This was arranged at short notice last summer but proved very successful, with a
day trip to the Island of Arran (15 minutes from Ryanair's base at Glasgow Prestwick), barbecue in the grounds, group Mass etc.
Organiser, Damian.
- July : London Picnic. Organiser, Ronan.

AUGUST - Trip along the river Rhine. Organiser, Hans.

12 - 14 SEPTEMBER - LONDON WEEKEND, with party and group Mass. It's also possible that the big party in London being arranged for 9 February will be open to all the groups.

SEPTEMBER : Weekend retreat in Dublin.

19 - 23 SEPTEMBER - MUNICH BEER FESTIVAL. Organiser, Hans.

24 - 27 OCTOBER - GLASGOW WEEKEND with ceilidh and group Mass.

OCTOBER : Lourdes - a chance to help the physically challenged. Organiser, Andrew.

OTHER POSSIBLE EVENTS:

- Another possible event is a nature weekend in the Isle of Wight.
- A weekend retreat at Wistaston Hall, Crewe, Cheshire. In the past at Malpas we had themed weekends on various topics. A few people
have been in touch recently suggesting that we do something for those who are looking for support in deepening their Christian life and
commitment.
- Also at Crewe sometime a meeting of representatives of groups to assess how Project 2030 is going and to make recommendations for the
years ahead.

40s EVENTS OPEN TO 30s:

23 - 26 MAY - DUBLIN WEEKEND with party, group Mass and various visits organised in and around Dublin.

POSSIBLE 40s/30s EVENTS:

MANCHESTER WEEKEND IN AUGUST including a barbecue at the new house where Hugh will be staying from March.

OCTOBER : A MUSIC WEEKEND in the north-west or in London.
