Subject: Easter Reflection

It was good to hear from the people who particularly felt the benefit of looking at the Our Father last week from different angles.  Here is a poem from Helen-Marie about why we celebrate Easter.  She got the inspiration for this last year at Westminster Cathedral during the Good Friday Service.  If anyone else has any other poems or testimonies about your faith or your experiences then we can always send them round the group.

Hope you are able to enter into the spirit of Holy Week, imagining what Jesus would have gone through at different stages.  From the cross he cried out, "My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?"  This might be the kind of cry that many people in central Italy and other parts of the world have been crying out because of their distress.  But Jesus did not abandon hope, nor did Mary, standing at the foot of the cross, lose her trust that God could turn everything out for the best.  And they were vindicated on Easter Sunday.

Wishing you all the blessings of the Easter season, and I pray that no matter what you have been going through that you will find new life and new joy.

The Project 2030 Office will be closed from now until Monday 20 April. From 16 May to 15 June Hugh will be in Rome at his community's General Chapter.  The Project 2030 Office will still be open, but if you need to contact me for anything try and do it by 12 May.

THE BEGINNING OF BRIGHTNESS
(Christus Lumen Mundi)

In Gethsemane, by a kiss betrayed.
Sinless lamb ransomed, to be slayed.
Three denials from Peter
Foretold, the cock crowed.
On your sacred, royal head
A crown of thorns bestowed.

Pilate washes his hands, after Claudia’s dream.
Blood scourged from your body, to wash Christians clean.
To Golgotha you struggle
On the cross you are impaled.
King of the Jews, INRI
Above your head, the charge nailed.

Seven last words, through the silence you cry.
Darkness covers the land
For three hours as you die.
The Passover lambs
In the temple cry too.
The underworld trembles, the veil tears in two.

Your side is pierced, but not one bone broken.
Fulfilling words of Scripture that Amos has spoken.
Calvary defeats Satan
The Lord of Light will rise.
For us, the Easter people
Sin you have excised.
